Shabbat Projects

Item # JC102 is a beautiful set for Shabbos each student receives two candlesticks, two candles and two challah loafs.  The variations are endless.  We offer some ideas here.  

Create a Challah Cover with felt or velour paper decorate the edges and place the accents in the center inscribing the words Shabbat Kodesh.  

Create a Wall mural of the blessing to be said over the Shabbos candles using the blessing card item #JC107.  This makes a perfect bat mitzvah project for a group.  Any style can be incorporated using elegant fabric mirrors and glitter, or paper stickers and sequins the possibilities are limitless.  You can also create a matching blessing to be said when separating a portion of challah dough use item #JC098.  

Item #JC234 is a perfect Shabbaton project for a group of mixed ages.  This set includes 20 sturdy 10X13 Black and white sheets with one package of item #JC102 and one package of item #JC144.   Younger children can simply color the black and white sheet, add some star stickers, and glue glitter on the candles.  Older children can frame the black and white sheet with a solid black sheet trimmed with gold glitter glue, they can add fabric on the curtains, create a mini cover for the challahs, and neatly decorate the clock.  The exciting part of this project is to add a paper fastener to the handles of the clock and presto a great reminder of what time sundown is each week.  Our experience has shown that children of all ages appreciated the practicality of their project and cherish using it and displaying it.

Some might appreciate the project about the special blessings we recite at the conclusion of Shabbos.  Each blessing comes with its matching object.  You can create a wall mural, a hanging mobile or a 3-d project.   Use creativity to merge blend different textures and backgrounds to create a pleasing and in depth craft project.
